SIREN SONG

In Siren Song, Ondine represents Dance which, though beautiful and real, disappears into memory and washes away once it has danced itself out of existence.

In Anderson’s version of The Little Mermaid. she desires to fall in love with a human in order to gain a soul and immortality.

This encounter between Ondine and the human world is like the encounter between Dance and Film.

By filming Dance, it gains an immortality - an afterlife that is a whole new mode of being different from the ephemeral and living nature of humans dancing.
